Most of what I believed about myself, and life, I derived from modern media, without questioning any of it. If I wasn’t sure how to behave in a certain situation, I’d search my mind for a movie or TV show I’d seen, with a similar setup, and do whatever the actors had done. A sponge, I absorbed my environment, became a by-product of it.I don't know how it's possible, but every book in this series gets better, more intense and more frightening than the last. And the cliffhangers! Don't get me started. Be forewarned, they are GI-NORMOUS! I recommend buying the entire series outright so you can read each book in succession without having to stop or wait. It's utter torture if you don't and sooo worth it if you do.
I don’t think I ever once looked up at the sky and wondered if there was sentient life in the universe besides the human race. I know I never looked down at the earth beneath my feet and contemplated my own mortality. I tunneled blithely through magnolia-drenched days, blind as a mole to everything but guys, fashion, power, sex, whatever would make me feel good right then.
But these are confessions I would make if I could speak, and I can’t. I’m ashamed. I’m so ashamed.
I really can't say it enough times for it to be adequate. You MUST read this series! People either LOVE or HATE (most people love it) the Fever series. One thing is for certain, they get addicted to it regardless of where they stand. I don't think I've ever seen one review where someone said, "This series bored me to tears. I just couldn't continue reading it!" That NEVER happens. Once your drawn into the Fever world, your stuck there, your trapped by it, your addicted to it and you can't put it down. The Fever series envokes strong passionate reactions from it's readers. Whether you LOVE or HATE it, it gets under your skin and stays there.
I've said it three times now, I'll say it again... the Fever series is NOT a sparkly fairy tale about love and tiny beings with gossamer wings and fairy dust. It is a dark story with highly evolved, ancient and otherworldly beings that have been a part of our human world before the record of time itself. Think more along the lines of "Ancient Aliens" that were mistaken throughout history as Angels, Gods and Demons. With Seelie and Unseelie hallows coveted by our race as religious artifacts and beings so advanced they don't even consider the human race to be sentient. And now they have taken over our world.
Beginning where Faefever left off, Dreamfever is the 4th book in Karen Marie Moning’s urban fantasy series featuring MacKayla Lane (“Mac” for short), a sidhe-seer (she-seer) with the ability to see the Fae. It is the continuation of Mac’s journey in search of the Sinsar Dubh (she-suh-Doo), a dark book of the blackest magic that has the ability to creat and destroy worlds.
Now that the walls are down between realms the rest of the world is very aware of the existence of the Fae and are beginning to seek out ways to protect themselves. The Unseelie begin to make our world their own as the Sinsar Dubh, with the ability to animate itself, continues using victims to commit horrible acts of violence and get closer to Mac. And in the devastating events that unfolded in Faefever something unspeakable happened to Mac that may have irrevocably changed her forever.
The mystery gets darker and more complicated with new questions mounting and so many still left unanswered. Who killed Macs' sister? Who’s been sending Mac pages from her sisters' diary? WHAT is Jericho Barrons? WHO is good? WHO is evil? WHO can truly be trusted? Will Mac make the right choice in the end or will she be the fulfillment of a dark prophecy that brings about the permanent end to our world?
Darkly erotic, mysterious, and suspenseful, Dreamfever is the 4th in a 5 book series, that continues to build upon an already complex and compelling world full of vivid characters. The plot is full of shocking twists and turns that has you wondering what path Mac will wind up choosing in the end. With a cliffhanger ending that leaves you running frantically for the next book, it’s torturous, yet entertaining. Both men and women alike will be drawn into Fever’s dark, intriguing world. There is something for everyone and you’ll soon find you can’t walk away without reading it to its’ end. I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes urban fantasy, thrillers or mystery. You won’t be disappointed!
