All of us have our little problems and insecurities. I’m no different. Back in high school when I used to feel insecure about something, I would console myself with two thoughts: I’m pretty, and my parents love me. Between those two, I could survive anything.

Since then I’ve come to understand how little the former matters, and how bitterly the latter can be tested. What’s left then? Nothing about our appearance or who loves or hates us. Nothing about our brainpower—which, like beauty, is an unearned gift of genetics—nor even anything about what we say.

It’s our actions that define us. What we choose. What we resist. What we’re willing to die for.
As I said in my Darkfever review.... This is not a sparkly fairy tale about love and tiny beings with gossamer wings and fairy dust. It is a dark story with highly evolved, ancient and otherworldly beings that have been a part of our human world before the record of time itself. Think more along the lines of "Ancient Aliens" that were mistaken throughout history as Angels, Gods and Demons. With Seelie and Unseelie hallows coveted by our race as religious artifacts and beings so advanced they don't even consider the human race to be sentient. Now they seek to take over our world.

Each book in the Fever series builds upon an intricately woven tale full of mystery and suspense. People expecting romance won’t find one. At least not until the end were it's logical to conclude that she'll end up with SOMEONE. There are definite hints at possible romance with sexual tension that is sometimes KILLER HOT between Mac and her two male counterparts. But even as the story is erotic and sexually charged at times, her interactions with V’lane and Jericho remain platonic and plagued by secrets and evasions.

Beginning where Darkfever left off, Bloodfever is the 2nd book in Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series. It is the continuation of MacKayla Lane's journey as a sidhe-seer (she-seer), through the world of light and dark Fae in search of her sister's murderer and the dark book of unspeakable power known as the Sinsar Dubh (she-suh-Doo).

New characters are introduced into the game as Mac’s search for answers becomes more complex. Her relationships with her supposed “allies” further deepens, but with every tiny fragment of information she manages to collect, more questions develop that move her no closer to an answer than she was before. Desperate to find those answers Macs' journey becomes darker and fraut with danger. Now someone is sending Mac pages from her murdered sisters’ journal. And although she has no idea who it could be, she is certain she knows who either murdered her sister or is responsible. To make matters worse Mac is also being pursued by a detective bent on proving she is a murderer.

With the walls between worlds threatening to fall, who can She trust? Everyone she knows is determined to hold on to their secrets offering her little to prove who’s batting for good or evil. It's starting to become apparent that maybe everyone she knows has something sinister up their sleeve.

Just as mysterious and suspenseful as the first, Bloodfever is the 2nd in a 5 book series, that builds a rich and compelling world with vivid characters and a plot that gets more complex as the series continues. Both men and women alike will be drawn into the Fever’s dark and intriguing world. There is something for everyone here and you’ll soon find you can’t walk away from it without reading it all the way through to it’s end. I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes urban fantasy or mystery. You won’t be disappointed!
